Fundamentals Personal Training

 

Screen Shot 2015-06-02 at 8.14.25 AMThe foundation of your training. Working one-on-one with a coach, you’ll soon come to understand what a difference it can make. There is nothing that compares to having a coach tailor and design a workout program just for you. Before you know it limitations as well as challenges that may have seemed impossible are surprisingly easy now.

Yes, you will eventually have the option to graduate to group classes; however, before that we need to ensure that you are both competent in the movements and fit enough to safely join group classes. To do this, we use established physical benchmarks, and you and your coach will monitor your fitness progress.

With that in mind, you will start off by completing one-on-one or two-on-one private training sessions.

During your personal training sessions (the number depends on your personal fitness level and physical abilities), you will become familiar with the technical movements, things like Olympic weightlifting, power lifting, gymnastics and rowing. You will also learn about mobility, injury prevention and nutrition.

There are a number of skills that you will learn in Fundamentals PT. Here are a few of them:

Don’t worry you will not need to be an expert at these. It can take people years to become an expert at some of these skills. Also understand that all movements have modifications and we are happy to work with your personal abilities.

Why personal training?

  • CrossFit is incredibly technical – it’s like learning an entirely new sport. The same way you wouldn’t throw someone off the street onto the varsity baseball team, we don’t throw people who have never done clean and jerks and snatches and pull ups right into the intimidating fire of group classes. Instead, we take the time to properly teach you the movements (and terms!) so you feel confident and safe in your abilities by the time you begin group classes.
  • One-on-one personal training allows us to address your individual needs, deficiencies, weaknesses and injuries. Everybody needs to work at a different pace, and we want you to progress and learn under the watchful eye of a diligent coach, as well as keep you injury-free so your training feels – and is – sustainable. This confidence and base knowledge will make group classes that much more fun.
  • We believe relationships with the people around you are going to enrich your life, and your relationship with your coach is no exception. We want to get to know you personally. We want to know your fitness goals, what’s going on in your life, and what you need from us to help you succeed.

After both your no sweat intro session and your private sessions are complete, we’ll re-evaluate and decide together if you need more sessions or if you’re ready to graduate into group classes.
